Emma Murray (BA Film and Theatre 2009)


After leaving Reading I toured with a theatre in Education company and then completed my teacher training! I am now Head of Drama at an 'Outstanding' school in South London

Why did you choose to study at the University of Reading?

It led to my career choices.

What was the best bit about living and studying in Reading?

The course was perfect for my future career prospects. The tutors were incredibly support and I made the best friends I could ever have imagined.

What are you up to now? How did you get there?

Head of Drama. After leaving Reading I completed teacher training.

What would be your top tips for students interested in working in this sector?

Get experience and work hard.

How has the University of Reading and the Careers Centre helped in your chosen career path?

The course was perfectly structured to suit my career choice. It opened many doors and without it I wouldn't be where I am today.

What are your top tips for students graduating this year? What should they be doing to secure the job they want?

Get work experience, work hard and make good contacts.

What does the University mean to you and what is your favourite memory?

At Reading I had the most amazing experience. The tutors supported me every step of the way and would offer advice still today. The memories I made there are endless and the friends I made will be in my life forever.
