Le Mi (BSc Financial Risk Management 2012)


I am now working for IBM China as a financial engineering consultant providing a range of risk management solutions to the financial institutions.

What was the best bit about living and studying in Reading?

The academic staff at the ICMA centre are world class professionals in the banking and finance industry. It is where I deepened my understanding of the financial market and accumulated a great deal project management skills during my studies. Meanwhile, the weather and environment is also wonderful - which I miss a lot.

What are you up to now? How did you get there?

I am a financial engineering consultant at IBM China.

How has the University of Reading and the Careers Centre helped in your chosen career path?

Career Centre gave some suggestions on my CV which I think is helpful.

What are your top tips for students graduating this year? What should they be doing to secure the job they want?

1. Lay a solid foundation of study
2. Cultivate communication skills
3. Keep dreaming

What does the University mean to you and what is your favourite memory?

For me, it was a start of me learning about the financial world and having a deeper view of foreign cultures.
