Pawan Chaudhary (MSc in Accounting & Financial Management 2011)

I graduated in 2011 and did come back to India. I worked with an auditing firm for a year and now running my own business of garments manufacturing.

Why did you choose to study at the University of Reading?

I decided to study at the University of Reading as the University offered the course which I was looking for. Additionally, the University has very good reputation in terms of great academics, satisfied students, and the Henley Business School is one of the only business schools worldwide to hold triple-accredited status.

What was the best bit about living and studying in Reading?

Reading is a very beautiful and peaceful town. On the other hand, the town of Reading has plenty of nightclubs, bars, shopping and recreational centre. The city is very well connected to the other famous places like London, Oxford and Birmingham etc.

What top tips would you give to students who are beginning their studies?

I would suggest students to study hard and party hard. Additionally, join a society or sports club which will help them to meet other students and gain valuable experience.

What are you up to now? How did you get there?

I always wanted to be an entrepreneur. However, I worked with an auditing firm for a year to build my work ethic and to gain valuable experience in dealing with people and in learning how the real world functions. Now, I have been running my own business since January 2013.

How has your degree helped in your chosen career path?

The best thing was about my course that it was very practical. I had to write many individual assignments, group assignments and did presentation during the course which helped me a lot to gain vast knowledge in my field.

What University activities are you still involved with and why do you volunteer?

I am working as an International Alumni Ambassador for the University. I have enhanced numerous skills while studying at University of Reading therefore I always wanted to be a part of the University after my graduation so I can persist to improve my talent.

What does the University mean to you and what is your favourite memory?

It was a great experience in every aspect to be a student at the University of Reading. I made some good friends from different countries and still in contact with them despite we are living in different countries. I miss the days of university hall accommodation which I spent with my friends.
