Raihan Nokman (MA Education - Leadership and Management 2012)

My name is Raihan and I am currently an Education Officer in Brunei.

Why did you choose to study at the University of Reading?

I choose to study at Reading because of it's top academic ranking, the efficient application process, and of course the nice location.

What was the best bit about living and studying in Reading?

I was taught by great lecturers and met losts of local and international students in my course.

What top tips would you give to students who are beginning their studies?

The University, campus and Reading town itself have a lot to offer. So explore and get involved!

What are you up to now? How did you get there?

I am an Education Officer at the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Brunei. As a sponsored student I was required to return to my country to undertake this role as part of the sponsorship contract.

How has the University of Reading helped in your chosen career path?

The University of Reading's very good credentials add to my portfolio and it is a highly accredited university in my country.

What University activities are you still involved with and why do you volunteer?

I am the International Alumni Ambassador for Brunei and I volunteer by sharing my experiences and delivering briefings for prospective students. I am happy to volunteer because I had such a great experience at the University and wish the same for Bruneians who are considering studying in the UK.

What does the University mean to you and what is your favourite memory?

It changed my perspective on so many things and gave me a deeper understanding especially with regards to leadership and management in education. My favourite memory is of course graduation day at London Road campus!
