Ibrahim Mohammed (BSc Quantity Surveying 2010)


I have completed my Diploma in Civil & Enviornmental Engineering from Mumbai University in India. I started my career as Construction Engineer and went to become full fledge Quantity Surveyor in the Middle East. Now I feel a complete QS with commercial and financial understanding of construction industries.

Why did you choose to study at the University of Reading?

I did not know much about universtities in the UK. What I did know was that I needed a accrediated degree from recognised university to fulfill my aspiration to become RICS member. I feel fortunate to associate with the Reading University.

What was the best bit about living and studying in Reading?

I have been to the University of Reading campus at the time of my convocation. It is great place and I am sure a great place to live and learn.

What top tips would you give to students who are beginning their studies?

No doubt the hard work and dedication are the key to success, but developing interest and enjoying the work or study will be really a fun.

What are you up to now? How did you get there?

I see myself a consistence and patience my approach.

What would be your top tips for students interested in working in this sector?

Just enjoy whatever you do.

How has the University of Reading and the Careers Centre helped in your chosen career path?

Even though I completed my distance learning course, the College of Estate Management remained close and approachable during my studying period.

What are your top tips for students graduating this year? What should they be doing to secure the job they want?

Confidence and competence shall help you to get what you desire.

What does the University mean to you and what is your favourite memory?

The full 4 years course was a memorable period. It was tough but I really enjoyed it.
