Miki Ushiku - nee Ohta (BA Psychology and Sociology 1995)


Having worked at four companies so far, I got married to Hiro and our baby girl was born in April 2013. I have been very happy, always.

Why did you choose to study at the University of Reading?

Because of good environment and great professors.

What was the best bit about living and studying in Reading?

Self achievement and satisfaction at each essay and annual test, especially the final exams.

What top tips would you give to students who are beginning their studies?

Study hard always, to overcome each year's challenges and go through final dissertation and final exams.

What are you up to now? How did you get there?

I have worked in the Marketing departments including PR and events of four different companies using English and all the skills and knowledge I learned at Reading. Now I have become a house wife to raise my kid(s) and this will be my career for another 5-10 years.

What would be your top tips for students interested in working in this sector?

Be yourself but strive to always get along well with office co-workers and clients.

What are your top tips for students graduating this year? What should they be doing to secure the job they want?

Go to as many interviews as you can during your third year.

What does the University mean to you and what is your favourite memory?

Meeting Dr Rex Stainton Rogers. If I did not meet him, I would not have gone through University and graduated.
