Valentina Peron (International Relations 2011)


I came to the University of Reading in the academic year 2010/2011 for my Erasmus. At that time I was studying at the University of Padua in Italy. I’ve now graduated am doing my Masters at the University of Trento, Italy.

Why did you choose to study at the University of Reading?

The courses offered by the University of Reading in the field of Politics and in particular International Relations seemed very interesting.

What was the best bit about living and studying in Reading?

The social life was great. The activities organised from the very beginning of the academic year helped me to find new friends from all over the world with whom I am still in contact nowadays. As for the study, the University offered me very interesting and stimulating courses that gave me further knowledge also for my future studies. In general it was a great life and learning experience.

What are you up to now? How did you get there?

At the moment I am doing my Master's studies in European and International Studies at the University of Trento.

How has the University of Reading and the Careers Centre helped in your chosen career path?

At the moment I am still studying.

What are your top tips for students graduating this year? What should they be doing to secure the job they want?

Try to understand exactly what field you would like to work in. Focus your postgraduate studies and try to get as much experience as possible with interships and work experience.

What does the University mean to you and what is your favourite memory?

It was the best year of my life and I learned a lot from it both for my studies and also for my life.
